INDIANER INUIT: The North America Film Festival & Beyond

Dear Friends of First Nations/Native American Films:

Since INDIANER INUIT: The North America Film Festival (3) was a big success last December (One of Germany’s major television stations (ZDF) reported on it within the context of its Olympic coverage from Vancouver), in the future we want to inform you regularly about film festival news and upcoming events. At this time we also want to take the opportunity to once again thank all partners and supporters who helped to make this very unusual festival a success.

New in the festival team “INDIANER INUIT” is Sara Lena Moellenkamp. She studied literature, cultural and media studies (LKM) at the University of Konstanz, played in different theater productions and is currently applying to various drama schools. Together with Klaus Tornow, Sara-Lena Moellenkamp will primarily look for the acquisition of festival partners.

For the children, we are planning a week of learning about Native American/First Nations culture, called “INDIANERWOCHE FÜR KINDER“ from August 30th to September 3rd 2010, at the Children’s Culture Center Raiteberg in Konstanz. Cooperation partners are: Mainau Academy/Mainau Active, Treffpunkt Petershausen, urban Integration Representative, ALNATURA, SCALA-Film Center.
Morgan Green (Tsimshian) from Vancouver agreed to spend the week with us. She is a multi-talented 26-year old artist. Among other incredible projects she has worked with the famous artist Jordan Seward on a 27 feet long totem pole, which is now set up in the center of Vancouver in memory of the missed and murdered indigenous women of “Downtown Eastside“.

KATE MCGARIGGLE passed away. Together with her sister Anna she formed one of the most well-known Canadian Folk Duos. The last title song the two sisters composed and sang was for the Inuit movie “Before Tomorrow”, which won several prices and was shown at the INDIANER INUIT Film Festival 2009.
