Dear AIW, I am an American anthropologist, affiliated with American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona. This past year, two of my book have been published. I think some of your members may find these interesting. The first is the third edition of "Native American Voices" by Susan Lobo, Steve Talbot, and Traci L. Morris (Prentice Hall/Pearson-2009). This is an anthology covering a wide range of topics. It also includes extensive introductory material, as well as study questions, key terms, and additional suggested readings. This format makes the book especially valuable for classroom use. It is used extensively in the United States in introductory courses in American Indian Studies at the college and university level. You can see more details regarding the book at www.pearson.com or by accessing my website (google 'Susan Lobo' and when the site comes up, double click on the book cover to see a table of contents and more details.) The second book is "The Sweet Smell of Home: the life and art of Leonard F. Chana" by Leonard F. Chana, Susan Lobo, and Barbara Chana,(University of Arizona Press-2009). This is an autobiographical ethnography and includes numerous color and black and white illustrations. Ethnohistorian Bernard Fontana wrote, "Leonard Chana spoke, and painted, from his heart and deep cultural roots. His shared insights into the past and present of the O'odham, leavened by his gentle humor and unsullied by third-party interference, have no peer in the published literature of his people." You can read more about the book at: www.uapress.arizona.edu or at my website as described above. I welcome any comments and communication. Susan Lobo (SLobo333 at aol.com)
